YLNM members support bolgger and activist Jesus Cruz, who is today Wednesday July 19 attending a conciliation act prior to a complaint for libel that Berkeley Minera España will present against him.

No one told Jesus Cruz that defending land and the natural environment against the uranium mining industry would be an easy task. But still, along with his compañeros of Campo Charro in Salamanca he has never hesitated to disseminate the informations he considers relevant to prevent the local population about the dangers involved in uranium mining, as well as all the circumstances he considers relevant about the mining project of the company Berkeley Minera España, subsidiary of an Australian mining company.

From its side, the company BERKELEY Minera Spain seems to have chosen a very dirty but usual strategy among mining companies: with the intention of silencing their voice, they threaten to denounce Jesús Cruz and other people opposing its project, even though they are in their legitimate right. Of course, they want to continue to camp at their own pace, cutting down trees and destroying other elements of the landscape and the territories they intend to exploit.

Despite pressures and intimidation, Jesus Cruz has not stopped writing and denouncing the false promises of prosperity and legal breaches, since the mining company is allegedly working without all the necessary permits.

Silencing Jesus, closing his blog where he posts all the critical information about the mining project, does not silence the resistance against the open pit project and uranium plant.

Because of the danger, many people in the world oppose nuclear energy and related mining.

While they entertain Jesus Cruz in the courts, we take his witness and amplify his voice and the voice of Stop Uranium to show that we are a river, we are a forest of holm oaks, we are a human sea in solidarity.
