Origins of the mining conflict in Nankints, Ecuador

Quito-based collective Minka Urbana has produced a short video, subtitled in English and French, illustrating the situation that the Shuar and affected campesino communities are facing.

The Shuar people and affected campesino communities are facing an ongoing campaign of militarization, criminalization and forced displacement as a result of their resistance to a large scale, open-pit copper and gold project, which Chinese multinational ExplorCobres and the Ecuadorian state are pushing forward without consent.
