The Saxena Report
This report was crucial in the eventual refusal of Vedanta and the Orissa Mining Companies’ lease to mine atop Niyamgiri. It documents the ecological costs, impacts on human habitation, non-compliance with land laws and other protective laws, and recommended to the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) that mining activities should be halted.
